For more than 150 years, Octagonal chimney pots have been popular throughout England
and Scotland, and can be still be found on traditional homes. Like all English chimney pots
they were moulded from terracotta, before being given a rich "salt glaze" during firing in a kiln.
Some were left unglazed and are now a delightfully mellow terracotta.
For the next century, each pot weathered in its own particular way. Even pots that stood
next to each other on a chimney stack for a hundred years or more developed their own distinctive
characters. Each one is unique; their appearance mellowed by age and history.
Most Octagonal Chimney Pots stand between 29 - 34 inches.
